Once Proofs of Claim are submitted, they are subject to review and objections. Ultimately payment on the claims is made after the Bankruptcy Court has approved a disclosure statement to all creditors and a plan of reorganization. All Creditors receive copies of the plan and disclosure statement.
What is a proof of claim?

*Please note, another party may file an objection to the Proof of Claim. In that case, the Bankruptcy Court may schedule a hearing to consider the objection and determine the amount of the claim, if any, that is eligible for distribution.

Here are the steps involved:
- Fill out the Proof of Claim form. Follow the easy step-by-step instructions on the form.
- Attach supporting documentation of your claim. Supporting documentation can be in a wide variety of forms including a contract, an account statement, a promissory note, or some sort of writing that supports the claim. (Do not send original documents to the court as they may be destroyed.)
- Sign the form.
- Mail the signed form and attachments and an additional copy to the bankruptcy court
